Eagle Revspec RS-02 Makes it Two in a Row for Goodyear

(South Brisbane/Australian Tyre Dealer) For the second successive year, Goodyear has won the best overall performance tyre award in the annual Wheels magazine tyre test with its Eagle Revspec RS-02 235/45R17.

The tyre is part of Goodyear's already accomplished performance range and joins the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 as a Wheels award winner.

The Wheels tyre test judges the best overall performance tyre over five different driving tests including wet and dry weather braking and cornering and an open slalom run.

The RS-02 was judged top of the class in both the dry braking and wet weather cornering tests, together with solid results in the dry cornering and wet braking categories. It outperformed tyres from many of the world’s leading tyre brands, including Bridgestone, Michelin, Yokohama, and BF Goodrich.

Goodyear Brand Manager Glenn Cross said, "It is a highly engineered tyre that uses all of the latest technological advances, ensuring outstanding levels of driving performance and comfort”.

He said Wheels was a highly respected automotive magazine and “an authority when it comes to everything on four wheels.”

The Direzza DZ101 (di-rez'-za) is Dunlop's Ultra High Performance Summer tire for the drivers of sport compact cars. The Direzza shares its name with Dunlop's Japan GT Championship (JGTC) racing tires, and was developed to provide crisp and responsive handling in both wet and dry conditions, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing conditions, through snow or on ice.

On the outside, the Direzza DZ101 features Dunlop's specially formulated Silicarbon Matrix tread compound (combines silica and carbon black) to enhance grip in the wet without surrendering traction in the dry. The compound is molded into a directional tread design featuring rigid shoulder blocks and two wide, straight tread channels with long, oblique grooves to combine responsive handling, stable cornering and hydroplaning resistance.

Internally, the Direzza DZ101 features twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop's Jointless Band (JLB) spiral-wound cap ply to stabilize the tread area enhancing handling and high-speed capability. A polyester cord body enhances ride quality while Max Flange Shields help resist rim damage due to accidental curbing.

Goodyear's Eagle LS2000, is available now exclusively to Goodyear Autocare. This Japanese tyre combines the best of Goodyear's unique tread design technology and NVR (Noise Volume Reduction) Rubber, which is used to create a tyre that not only performs brilliantly, but also provides a quiet ride.

The SP Sport 9000's multi-shift noise reduction system includes longitudinal grooves that are molded at an angle to the direction of travel. These fan-shaped grooves, along with the shoulder bars, form a narrow passage. This prevents the creation of air columns resulting in lower noise levels.

The SP Sport 9000's tread and shoulder grooves are alternated four times. The computer-optimized mix of five different tread lengths in the center area of the tread and three different tread lengths in the shoulder assures that no tread pattern is repe ated over the entire tread length. This also helps reduce tire noise by producing sounds of mutually interfering frequencies at the shoulder and center portions of the tread. The resulting sound is, for the most part, not audible to the human ear.
