Tyre Pressures

Maintaining the correct pressure is the easiest, yet most important thing you can do to get the best performance, economy and safety from your tyres. Information relating to the correct pressure should be available from your vehicle's tyre placard however, considering these points may help:

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS

Different driving conditions require different pressures. For example, a higher pressure is usually recommended for high speed driving or when carrying or towing a heavier than normal load. Seek advice on what is best for you and your car.

Tyre pressure should be checked when tyres are cold, as pressures will increase when tyres warm up.

Under inflation of tyres can cause them to experience uneven or rapid tread wear, as well as lead to an increase in fuel consumption. In addition, under inflation reduces your vehicles braking and handling capabilities, and can ultimately lead to serious tyre failure.

Where possible, carry your own tyre pressure gauge.

Sealing valve caps must ALWAYS be used, the best being the metal type.

If you require any assistance with the pressure of your tyres, see your local tyre retailer.

TYRE ROTATION

Regular rotation of tyres is a proven method for promoting even wear and therefore extending tread life. If uneven wear has occurred, this may be due to worn suspension components, vehicle misalignment or incorrect tyre balance. These concerns cannot be corrected by simply rotating the tyres. Your local tyre retailer should correct these problems.

Front to back same side rotation is acceptable when tyres are wearing unevenly. If the spare is included in the rotation it should be exchanged with the tyre allocated to the right hand rear position

SPECIAL RECOMMENDED TYRES(personal opinion)

The Direzza DZ101 (di-rez'-za) is Dunlop's Ultra High Performance Summer tire for the drivers of sport compact cars. The Direzza shares its name with Dunlop's Japan GT Championship (JGTC) racing tires, and was developed to provide crisp and responsive handling in both wet and dry conditions, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing conditions, through snow or on ice.

On the outside, the Direzza DZ101 features Dunlop's specially formulated Silicarbon Matrix tread compound (combines silica and carbon black) to enhance grip in the wet without surrendering traction in the dry. The compound is molded into a directional tread design featuring rigid shoulder blocks and two wide, straight tread channels with long, oblique grooves to combine responsive handling, stable cornering and hydroplaning resistance.

Internally, the Direzza DZ101 features twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop's Jointless Band (JLB) spiral-wound cap ply to stabilize the tread area enhancing handling and high-speed capability. A polyester cord body enhances ride quality while Max Flange Shields help resist rim damage due to accidental curbing.

*of a total possible 1100 pts
"Car & Driver December 2005 issue

As an all-around high-performance tyre, you can't beat this Goodyear. When Car and Driver magazine ran it, along with ten other tyres, through four specially-designed track tests, it was the best performer in all three wet-track tests and was very competent in the dry. This earned the Eagle F1 a total of 1,050 points of a possible 1,100, clinching the coveted first place in "Car & Driver" magazine's tyre shoot-out.

Not for pretenders
The A.drive R1 can lift the performance of an otherwise standard car. It’s not for pretenders. It suits car tuners and enthusiasts who want genuine performance and not just looks. The R1 offers an exciting driving feel thanks to stiff sidewalls and large shoulder blocks for superior cornering grip. The R1 is ideal for plus fitment sizes and is the young sporty member of the drive family.
Aggressive Tread Design
The directional pattern has a continuous centre rib design that generates a better ‘on centre’ feel and enhances high speed stability. Large shoulder blocks deliver more ‘rubber-to-road’ contact for superior cornering grip. This tyre is ideal as an inch-up option with several plus fitment sizes.

Plus Fitment Advantages
Fitting a larger rim with lower profile tyres is a great way to improve the aesthetics of your vehicle. It can also improve the level of handling and traction if you choose the right tyre. The A.drive R1 is designed specifically for plus fitment options as the low profile, rigid sidewall can deliver more stable steering response when attempting lane changes or hard cornering. The larger contact patch will also offer you better traction and significantly increase your braking power

An extra margin of safety
The Yokohama C.drive is earning a reputation as the “must have tyre for safety. C.drive’s superb handling capabilities provide extra vehicle stability in emergency-swerve situations. Aside from safety, the C.drive is a sensible upgrade for your standard vehicle as the tyre is designed to offer sportier performance, a comfortable ride and low cabin noise that last as the tyre wears.
Confidence in the Rain
Driving in the rain can be a frightening experience as it is difficult to see other vehicles or road signs, and even the road itself. Dirt and oil on the road can also make road conditions very slippery, while aquaplaning on puddles can lift your tyre off the road and reduce traction to almost zero. C.drive’s silica based rubber compound grips the road at a microscopic level to ensure your vehicle gets maximum grip in the wet, while the four wide deep grooves flush away water to deliver superb wet traction.
Asymmetrical Tread Design
C.drive’s asymmetrical tread pattern is designed to provide the perfect balance between sport performance and luxury comfort. The inner zone has softer, smaller tread blocks that offer excellent wet handling. The middle zone has a continuous rib design that offers low noise and better comfort feel. The outer zone has larger tread blocks that are more rigid for better dry handling and extra cornering grip.

The History of the Tyre
The following chronicles the development of the tyre as we know it today. RW Thomson invented and patented the Pneumatic Tyre in 1845. His first design used a number of thin inflated tubes inside a leather cover (illustrated). This design actually had its advantages over later designs. It would take more than one puncture to deflate the whole tyre, and varying the pressures could alter the ride conditions.

It was not until the late nineteenth century, 1888, that John Boyd Dunlop invented the Rubber Pneumatic Tyre. Despite these technological breakthroughs the solid rubber tyre continued to be the dominant tyre and it was not until 1889 that the pneumatic tyre caught on.

Dunlop first advertised his tyres in December 1888 in The Irish Cyclist, and in May of the following year the Tyre had its first breakthrough. A Belfast Cycle Race was won on pneumatic rubber tyres, and by now the public were starting to take note.

Unfortunately the original tyre had its drawbacks. The inner tube was difficult to get at because the tyre was stuck to the wheel. In 1890 CK Welsh patented the design of a wheel rim and outer cover with inextensible lip. By now we had the basics for today’s tyre. Over the years the tyre has developed into today’s high technology offerings. Two of the most important technical developments include Michelin’s creation of the radial tyre with its vastly superior grip in 1948, and when Dunlop did away with the inner tube on car tyres in 1972.

Time has given the motor industry tyres capable of many different applications. This ranges from High Speed Racing such as Formula One to Heavy Plant Usage on vehicles as large as a house. All tyres deliver a comfortable ride, relative puncture resistance, wear and performance. The importance of a tyre must not be taken for granted. After all a tyre is your vehicles only point of contact with the road.

Benefits of Sport Rims
Sport rims are used on a wide variety of vehicles. From racing cars to
high-end road vehicles including MPVs, SUVs and off-roaders.

Benefits:

*Style
Beautiful cars deserves nice perfect finishing touch and nothings is more
suitable than a set of attractive sport rims that suits your unique ride.

*Reduced Unsprung Weight Compared to Steel/Alloy Wheel
Sport rims are much more lighter and also providing superior strength
compared to regular steel/alloy rims. This is a very crucial fact as it affects
your vehicle's road holding ability. When the weight of the wheel are light,
your vehicle's susceptibilty to conerning forces and road shocks are
reduced greatly, having a safer and confident handling.

*Increase Control over Acceleration, Steering and Braking
With sport rims, the weight of your vehicle's moving mass is greatly
lowered. This give more definite input and directly affects your vehicle's
response on acceleration, steering and braking.

*Controlled Cornering
The strength of the sport rims compared to steel/alloy rims are also having
better control when cornering. Both wheel and tyre deflections during
cornering are grealty lowered.
